- discover the surrounding area "Brugs Ommeland Noord" as well as the coast. A practical cycling map allows you to plan your own route.
We recommend the following cycling trips (maps available):
- Castle route (47 km). The triangle Brugge, Oostkamp and Torhout is a typical region of castles and mansions. Starting point is the provincial domain Tillegembos in St-Michiels Brugge.
- Maerlant Route (52 km). The border region between Damme, Sluis, Aardenburg and Maldegem is connected by the Maerlant Route. Starting point is in Damme, close to Bruges.
- Old Dikes Route (43 km). From the rivers of the canal and the old sea dikes you can enjoy a unique view over the flat land. Starting point is in De Haan.
- Riante Polder Route (44 km). You cycle to the Zwin-region and the sea polder land between Knokke-Heist and Damme. The old sea dikes and the picturesque villages are typical for the landscape. Starting point is in Heist.
- Bulskampveld Route (43 km). This trail allows you to discover the Bulskampveld region, a park landscape in the south-east of Bruges, characterised by woodland and wetland. Starting point is in Beernem.
- Gentele Cycling Route (52 km). This route is for real nature lovers. Indeed, you pass by the Uitkerkse Polders and the Meetkerkse Moeren, a natural reserve for bird observation. Starting point is in Blankenberge.
Voor those who enjoy walking we recommend:
- Lissewege (one of the finalists in the competition for Flander´s most beautiful village) with cycling map "Ter Doest Wandelpad" (5,5 km);
- The Belgian coast with lovely sea resorts such as De Haan (16 km), Knokke (22 km), Ostend (26 km), ...
- Crossing the Dutch border is also worthwile: Cadzand-beach (29 km) and Sluis (33 km).
For the "motorised" four- or twowheelers amongst you we recommend:
- Permekeroute (72km). This route is a tribute to the flemish expressionist painter Constant Permeke. It allows you to discover the polder landscape and part of the dune region between Bruges, Ostend and Zeebrugge (map available).
